Guide on Procedures for the Preparation of Solid Waste Projects (November 2013)

The revised Manual takes into account changes in the relevant legislation. Briefly, the Guide includes and examines the following topics:

• the description of the general principles of solid waste management, project categorization, competent authorities
• the brief and detailed (schematic) presentation of all necessary procedures, (starting from the stage of design – ending at the construction completion and operation of the project), in association with each stakeholder and relevant legislation
• the estimated time for completing the above procedures
• proposals for optimizing the implementation processes and improving the acceptance of management plants by the local communities.

The manual also includes a list of the relevant legislation, a list of major waste management projects in Greece with reference to the main characteristics and a table of licencing and approval authorities.

The manual is only available in Greek and revises the one published by the MOU in 2006.
