The MOU assumes responsibility for evaluating, integrating, monitoring, controlling and completing projects in the framework of national development programmes. Specifically:

As a member of the programme's Technical Secretariat, the MOU participated in planning the implementation of FILODIMOS I, has supported the Technical Secretariat and has assumed full responsibilities for monitoring and completing programme's projects (preparation of reports, audits, on-site inspections, closure of projects, disbursement of the loan and payment of projects).

A key element of Filodimos I is the local authorities' loans from the European Investment Bank (EIB) through the Consignment Deposits and Loans Fund for the construction and supply of equipment in the fields of water supply, sewerage, restoration of uncontrolled waste disposal areas, rural roads, construction or restoration of municipal buildings, flood protection and the restoration of damage caused by natural disasters.

The MOU also participates in the Technical Secretariats established for the management and implementation of the Special Development Programmes of the North and South Aegean 2017-2020 and provides for the evaluation and monitoring of the projects included in these programmes.

The aim is to support the Aegean islands, due to the challenges they face, but also due to the extraordinary needs created by the increased refugee flows.
