The Management Organisation Unit is a non-profit-making institution within the broader public sector. Its purpose is to assist public authorities in the effective management of EU-funded programmes, by meeting specific needs in highly specialised human resources and know-how and by formulating methods and processes for the management, implementation and control of the development programmes co-funded by the European Union.

The MOU reports to the Greek Minister of Economy, Competitiveness and Shipping and is governed by a nine-member Board of Directors.
